Hardware and Software Upgrades Recap of Our Real Estate Website Platform in 2024

Improving and Fortifying The Brixwork Platform For Better Performing and More Reliable Websites

Our V5 launch and ongoing improvements in 2023 was a truly groundbreaking milestone. Throughout 2024, our development team overhauled the underlying hardware, made further improvements to our system based on client feedback, while refining the edges and reducing bugs to make your experience even better.

. . .

2024 System Upgrade and Improvement Summary
  • Hardware overhauled to a more modern OS, separate database.
  • Database cache layer added for faster load time and reduced cloud costs.
  • Dramatically improved uptime and stability of our websites.
  • Numerous MLS® listings and photos bugs fixed.

Here’s a more detailed month-by-month review of what kept our devs busy last year for those of you who like to dig a little deeper.

January, 2024

Fixed bugs in the Kelowna MLS® Reciprocity system affecting acreage listings with extra-large lot size values. Missing listings from CREA DDF feeds (such as Ottawa and Tillsonburg) caused by data format inconsistencies were resolved.

February, 2024

Resolved photo feed issues on KADREA (Kamloops MLS®) and enhanced our Google™ Maps plotting system to support international addresses, allowing more accurate listing location display for our select international real estate websites.

March, 2024

Fixed commercial MLS® search bugs for Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and Chilliwack boards and added more data fields for richer listing details. Upgraded our database to handle foreign characters (e.g., Chinese, Russian) more consistently across devices.

April, 2024

Upgraded our hardware to improve speed, stability, and scalability. This included a faster and more powerful server, a dedicated and stable database, multiple layers of backups, and better handling of traffic spikes. We also recovered missing open house dates from VIVA listings.

May, 2024

Enhanced the buildings/presales module with improved sorting and re-ordering for large inventories. Optimized the algorithm that grouped MLS® listings into matching buildings, resulting in faster listing imports and lower odds of listing mis-categorization.

June, 2024

Launched a new database cache module to improve page load times and reduce data transfer volumes across our cloud network. This also decreases our cloud hardware costs, thus helping us reduce the frequency of subscription costs increases.

July 2024

Introduced Air Conditioning and EV Charging as key features in the presales/buildings module. Further improvements were made to the new data cache module, including bug fixes for loading errors and memory leak issues.

August 2024

Resolved photo sync issues in CREA DDF feeds caused by a timestamp format change that affected certain East Coast regions. Upgraded photo gallery JPG uploading and compression mechanisms with faster, more efficient tools (NodeJS & Sharp library).

September 2024

Updated our MLS® sync engine to selectively import listing photos for OWN listings. Fixed a geocoding bug that occasionally mislocated listings with unusual street names across Vancouver Westside and North Vancouver.

October 2024

Upgraded MLS® Reciprocity for Edmonton (RAE) to the latest RESO standard via Bridge API. Improved the HoodQ widget for better handling of obscure neighborhoods and added more flexibility for rental-specific listings.

November 2024

Fixed an issue where updated listing photos weren’t reflecting immediately when agents replaced photos quickly. Disabled the Facebook Chat widget initiating code, since the module was discontinued by Meta (Facebook’s parent company).

December 2024

Overhauled our Instagram (Meta) widget to comply with new business account standards. Fixed a bug in the Facebook share button on listing pages and added new property type labels for the updated Edmonton MLS® Reciprocity feed.

Massive Improvements In Website Uptimes & Stability After the Hardware & Software Upgrades

The past year was all about refining and improving everything under the hood. By the latter half of 2024, we achieved some of the best uptimes (no outages or loading issues) we’ve seen on our websites in a very long time. Built from the ground up for real estate, and well-crafted throughout for performance – that’s what Brixwork’s SaaS (Software as a Service) platform is all about.

Our PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Game Was On Point, And Growing Very Fast!

The drastically improved stability and performance also helped with our success in the PPC segment, our fastest growing service. We opened 2025 with a record breaking ad budget allocated to us, with more campaigns expected down the pipeline. Don’t sit while your leads are being scooped by competitors – see our PPC Campaign performance figures for yourself.

Modern Agent Bio Pages That Actually Do Their Jobs

Are you being ignored? Realtor bio pages with long (and boring) paragraphs kept visitors on the page for less than 0:20, meaning most users left the page almost immediately.

Some of our websites launched in 2024 kept visitors for 1:00 or so on the agent/team bio pages, dramatically improving brand awareness. See how we designed these storytelling page better for real performance:

A Blast From The Past – A 2024 Launched Website VS a 2008 Built Antique Industrial Project Marketing Website

It was a huge year for us in the Industrial Presale niche, with 6 project marketing websites launched with more in the pipeline for 2025. Our first industrial project marketing website dates back to 2008 (for CBRE), and we made a showcase video to compare one of our top launches of 2024 (for Avison Young).

We are stoked to start 2025 on a high note following these massive successes throughout 2024, and look forward to serving you better as the real estate market gets hotter this year!
