The chosen candidate will be working out of our Gastown studio in Downtown Vancouver. Foreign contractors need not apply as we have a very strict policy of our entire workforce operating out of our Vancouver Headquarters. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.

About This New Position

  • Prepare, write and publish written content (including blog articles) related to real estate listings & new presales

  • Utilize photography, infographics, headings & utilities to enhance content visuals

  • Publish the links to content/blog posts (or both) on clients’ social media outlets

  • Perform content-level Search Engine Optimization (meta tags & keywords)

  • Manage our internal social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

  • Prepare, write, edit and publish email newsletters in conjunction with listings or blog posts

  • Maintain advertisement campaigns and generate reports

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Social media platforms knowledge (Facebook, Instagram)

  • High level of written and spoken English skills

  • Understand cloud drives and docs such as Google Drive/Docs/Sheets and Dropbox

  • Basic knowledge of HTML an asset (this is not a coding role, however)

  • Quick with numbers, stats and math

  • Mailchimp and WordPress knowledge is a bonus (but not mandatory)

Experience & Qualifications

  • Team-oriented work experience in any office or retail environment (min 6 months)

  • Legally able to work in Canada

  • Attention to detail with ability to proof-read

  • Task prioritization and deadline-oriented mindset

  • Open to learning new softwares and being resourceful to find answers

      The search engine world has evolved, as well as browser standards for website security. Offering SSLs on our websites is one major step we are taking to offer better performance for our clients’ websites.

      What is an SSL, and why is it needed on Realtor® websites?

      UPDATE (2018-06-05) – Starting sometime in July 2018, the newer versions of Chrome & Firefox will start displaying an unsettling “Not Secure” warning on all websites without an SSL Certificate installed & activated. These two browsers make up for more than 50% of browser usage in Canada, with similar statistics shown across the USA.

      These type of warnings can be unsettling and potentially turn off a visitor from browsing through your real estate website, or use the contact form to submit their email/phone number/name.

      SSLs encrypt and secure any data exchanged by your visitors submitted to your website. In case of Brixwork websites, this pertains mainly to the contact/inquiry forms, which are a major lead generating tool for our customers (and a high-performing one too, especially on listing detail pages).

      SSLs were traditionally not essential for websites without an e-commerce element, but recent changes by Google to give a slightly higher ranking/score for SSL-protected websites meaning this can potentially help your website rank higher – meaning there are other benefits to an SSL Installation than just avoiding scary warnings.

      These new changes in the internet landscape made SSLs highly beneficial, and worth the labour & costs involved – even on real estate websites without any credit card transactions.

          The meta title and descriptions are programmed to default to the address and critical features of a listing. While this Brixwork feature is handy, there are ways to improve this for your own listings (note that you cannot do this for MLS® reciprocity listings that are not your own – you are not authorized to modify how it displays on your website).

          The meta title is critical for Google ranking – so make sure the best and relevant keywords are in there. This is also visible on Google search results, so make sure it’s easy for humans to read & understand. Instead of the address being the default, the title can be more descriptive about the key features or location of the property based on what you think people may be looking for.

          • Name of the building/complex name

          • Critical features such as rental regulations, outdoor space etc.

          • Proximity to important landmarks such as transit or schools

          The meta description is often what helps users determine which links to click. This section has little to no effect on actual Google rankings – so make sure to write for humans, not Google. This 2 line description is what most users scan through before choosing which one of the 10 results to click.           When photos are uploaded, they often default to the filename, and may often take on random titles such as “DSC0021” which are meaningless. Google’s algorithm takes into consideration what keywords are related to Real Estate searches, so describing photos with keywords such as “Bedroom”, “Kitchen”, and “En-Suite” gives your listings massive benefits. The photos load several times faster on Amazon CloudFront, and Google gives better rankings to faster-loading websites. This was one of the most major upgrades that we’ve performed, spanning across an 8 month period, to re-distribute all real estate photography onto the cloud, and will benefit all of our customers.

          Update Listing Heading & Descriptions

          Most of our website’s headings above the description defaults to describe the location and property type. This can be overridden easily to be more specific to the property at hand. Your own listings can have an enhanced description with multiple paragraphs and heading separations. This is a great feature for search engines to pick up more critical keywords with a higher degree of importance, but it also serves to help your visitors scan through the key features of your listings faster.

          The One-Page Website Trend – It’s Pros and Cons

          Many real estate web providers offer one-page websites dedicated at specific properties only, rather than an entire agent/brokerage website. While this has some advantages, there are many other disadvantages to consider before moving in this direction.

          The biggest benefit that Realtors® may see in this is the fact that a specific domain such as can take a customer directly to view the listing. However, this can be achieved just as easily by pointing any domain directly towards a specific page within your existing website.

          Isolated Domains Mean Less Google Ranking Opportunities

          These single-property domains has no permanent presence. It’s also not part of your primary domain that you have kept, and will keep, for years to come, which means there’s no Google ranking accrual that happens. It will provide one or two backlinks while it’s alive, then when you scrap it after the listing sells, it’s gone. There are no permanent benefits of these single-property websites to your long term Google ranking.

          Frequently Asked Questions About Our Presales & Buildings Search Module
          How much is it per month? How much to set up?

          This add on is offered on a monthly subscription basis. However, the page that displays the details of the building is a one-time setup to determine the layout & design according to your site, with a range of options available. Please contact us for more details.

          How much customization is available?

          The map/list hybrid search module is a centralized module maintained and updated by the Brixwork team, so no customization is available as each software update would render the customizations useless. Because of the complexities involved in such a system, we cannot offer customization on this system.

          How is this better from the existing building gallery?

          This system allows our Realtors® to constantly add a large inventory of presales from all across the city, not restricted to a singular neighbourhood. Also, because the map & list talk to each other, it’s an intuitive tool that helps understand which building/presale is where.

          What’s an alternative method from this when it comes to marketing/farming buildings?

          Our existing building galleries module can be seen here on Momentum Inc.’s Buildings Gallery. This is useful when targeting a set number of buildings in a geographically limited region.

          Where does the presale data come from?

          There is no central data for all presales, such as the MLS IDX provided by Paragon, for example (in the REBGV region). All the photos, descriptions, amenities, unit types, PDF floorplans must be entered by each website owner. Brixwork can assist in such data population at an additional hourly rate if you prefer.

          Which buildings/presales can be loaded to my list?

          Because each client has to load & populate the data, it’s up to each agent/team to decide that. Brixwork only provides the tools and framework needed to allow our customers to continuously add more to the stock.

          How about MLS® listings integration? How will that work?

          Any listings that match up with the address ranges (our system accounts for multiple buildings in one development) will be automatically displayed under the same building. That means that any presale building that morphs into an active building with MLS® listings loaded will automatically get such listings populated and displayed. With update 4.5 – where we updated our listing sync X3- any new presale listing will be swiftly reflected in the presale page.
