Brixwork Website Platform Upgrades For A Better Digital Marketing Ecosystem Throughout 2025
We had (another) busy year handling new MLS® IDX platform vendors, adding website features based on your feedback, and initiating a major server infrastructure upgrade. Our system upgrades throughout 2024 focused on tuning and improving upon the major overhaul to V5 in 2023. 2025 took a more aggressive approach to add prominent new functionality as well as major upgrades in the underlying server architecture.
Our real estate first website platform was conceived to make life easier for you, and we continue to improve our custom-built CMS to higher standards – because you don’t have time to wrestle plugins on an open-source platform like WordPress.

Ottawa MLS® IDX Module Upgraded To PropTx Feed (via TRREB)
Upgraded our IDX integration to connect with Ottawa’s new PropTx API endpoint, eliminating years of frustrating data issues—duplicated city names, inconsistent area listings, and mis-entered locations that plagued the previous Ottawa feed. Our custom-built system seamlessly adapted to the new API structure, giving your visitors accurate, reliable real estate listing data across the National Capital Region. The Ottawa Real Estate Board transitioned to PropTx in late 2024, the advanced MLS® platform technology also used by the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board.

Greater Vancouver Region (GVR) MLS® Feeds Upgraded To RESO Standard
Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and Chilliwack MLS® feeds upgraded to the modern RESO feed standard through Bridge API, improving data accuracy and load speeds. This ground-up rebuild brought faster sync speed, improved listing accuracy, and with better city-to-community nesting for content visibility for humans, search engines and AI models. Advanced Firewall Upgrades While Maintaining SEO/GEO Visibility
Bot traffic now makes up more than half of total internet traffic, requiring increased attention to server security to prevent these scrapers from hampering the performance of our websites. Our firewall systems were enhanced to prevent illegitimate scrapers and bots from crawling client websites, while thoughtfully preserving access for Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and other legitimate bots that should be allowed full access to your website to improve your online visibility.

Private Listing Function + AI Content Tools In Development
Launched private/exclusive listing functionality that keeps select properties hidden from search engines while accessible via direct links sent over email or text—perfect for pre-market or off-market (exclusive) listings. Watch our video tutorial here. We also began roadmapping an AI assistant within the Brixwork admin panel for improved SEO content generation, designed specifically for real estate professionals who want to rank higher on Google and AI search platforms without becoming content marketing experts.
October 2025
QR Code Generator + Enhanced Admin Dashboard For Better Marketing
Added QR code generation tools to all pages within the Brixwork admin, making it easier to drive traffic from print media and signage. Refreshed the Brixwork website admin dashboard with integrated SEO and digital marketing video tutorials, plus streamlined access to listing and page management. These new features and dashboard rebuilds were inspired by client feedback and idea requests, in line with our inception story of how Brixwork was built out of (a rather angry) demand from a Realtor®, growing up to Version 5 over the years.

Next-Generation Server Infrastructure Testing Begins + Spam Protection
Started testing a new webhost and server management software that delivers more power with less overhead, enhanced security with greater flexibility, and faster performance on identical hardware specifications. We also improved our ReCaptcha spam protection module and closed backdoor bypass mechanisms that malicious bots could exploit. Our development team continues to improve safeguards on your real estate websites so you don’t have to manage email forms or spam filters.

Server Migration Rollout With Performance Optimizations
Began migrating select websites to our new AWS-based server cluster powered by superior control platform software. We spent the weeks updating server configurations, firewalls, and optimized cache utilization for even faster page load speeds, while ensuring the system does not delay any MLS® listing updates. The new webhost platform also allows our development team to perform tech support, updates and maintenance on your websites faster and easier, improving our overall service quality and value.
Web Server and Control Software Upgrade Completed in January 2026
This industry never stops evolving, and our team is committed to delivering a better website experience for both our clients as well as the visiting public. We completed the full cut-over of all of our websites to the new server on the 3rd week of January 2026, marking the completion of a 3-month-long journey to move all of our websites to a better server platform. It was not without challenges – hours of reiterations on testing and debugging, as well as server stack and code improvements, and copious amounts of coffee were necessary to enable this platform upgrade.

There were some speed and connectivity issues (which can happen during massive upgrades and bulk migrations) which we dealt with swiftly, often with countless hours spent deep into the nights. The server load and firewalls were stabilized to deliver much faster performance across the board. And we’ve already started new optimization coding for listing fetch speed improvements as well as selective listing type syncs to help our clients hone their niche better while improving the system efficiency throughout.
Other Research and Innovations For A Better Online Presence
It takes more than just a great tech stack to make a great impression online, and we have other helpful material (also, not as dry as server stack and coding chatter).
- On branding – 4 branding mistakes that too many Realtors® make (with failure samples)
- On lead gen – How real estate websites can show up more often on AI queries (hint: start with SEO)
- On web design – 3 outdated website modules that look cool but counterproductive (and alternatives)
We are gearing up for a fantastic 2026 with even more exciting improvements to our platform as well as a stream of fresh and innovative designs coming down the pipeline already.
